I'm definitely a mom now...
Never before would I have thought that I would do some of the things I catch myself in the midst of on a daily basis. For example, simply wiping spit-up off of my shoulder and thinking “Well, as long as other people can’t smell me, it’s ok”, or “Maybe I’ll just wash my bangs and then it will look like I took a full shower” if I’m hurried in the mornings. And I never thought I’d call my husband “Daddy” (“Daddy, do you want to go for a walk?” or “Daddy wants to change your diaper now!”)
Over the weekend, as Jason and I were getting ready to go to Watson Mill Bridge State Park near our house, it was quite funny how much we had to pack up for a simple afternoon out. “Daddy” described it perfectly by exclaiming, as he jostled the baby in his arms and I ran around picking necessary items up from around the house to pack in our day bag, “Wow. We really have baby!” My sentiments exactly. It seems that at times, it still hasn’t quite sunk in that we are parents.
The trip to the park was fun, though. Since we previously tried to use the front carrier with no luck (poor Silas’ noggin was bouncing around just a little too much and he let us know that it was not comfortable, Mom!), we strapped Silas to me with the sling and headed down to the river. It was a very nice Saturday, and the weather was perfect. Sitting by the water and looking up at the trees seemed to make baby Silas very happy, and he was quiet and content listening to the new sounds and taking in the surroundings.
Afterwards, we all took a very nice nap.

The night before…
In short, my dad enjoyed his first babysitting stint and we had our first night out on the town.
Courtesy of Krimson, Jason and I went to see Sam Bush play at the Melting Point here in Athens (thanks, Grubb). While enjoying dinner with Krim, Daniel and Mark Dixon prior to the show, I realized how strange it felt to not be physically attached to another human being. At that thought, I had the overwhelming urge to high five Jason. Woo hoo! We did it! We’re out! And I’m having a beer! Ah, beer. My sweet, sweet friend. Another high five!
Sam Bush was amazing, the venue was amazing. It was really, really so much fun. But I didn’t get any pictures of the fun, so you’ll just have to imagine it for yourself.
My dad did a wonderful job watching the babe. Silas even got a nice bath and a cozy spot on the couch to sleep. Dad looked a little tired when we arrived at 12:30pm to pick Silas up, but our baby was happy and content to have spent and evening with his Grandpa. High five!
