ONE YEAR OLD

Our little boy is one year old!! We just can't believe it. Is this how it's going to be forever - the year just flew by and we can't imagine what it was like when he was the little floppy infant that we had so recently.

Silas just had his 12-month checkup and is doing great. He is 24lb 1oz and 30 1/2 inches. A very healthy and super happy baby. Jason and I are so excited, too, because night sleeping is finally going wonderfully so we've regained a bit of our sanity. Silas is not walking yet, but has discovered the fun of climbing. Up the stairs, into the dryer, out of the tub, onto the couch. He tries to go everywhere!

On Saturday July 15th we had his FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY and lots of family came over to our house to celebrate! For the first time in a long time, Silas didn't nap in the morning and so he was exhausted by lunch time. So, picture perfectly, he actually fell asleep WHILE eating lunch. Too funny! Of course we got some pictures so as soon as someone sends one to me (hint hint) then I'll post it on here. It was really fun to see both sides of our family at the same time, which doesn't happen very often.

We can't even imagine what things will be like next year at this time with a TWO YEAR OLD! Scott and Tracey are getting married on June 30th of '07, so we'll see how Silas looks in a little tux! HAHA.

Here are some pictures of our little bear with (on) some of his bday gifts. (My mom made the little adirondak chair that he's sitting in! She's amazing.)

KB birthday party

Krimson turned 28 on June 13th!! Her bday party was at the duckpond house, which Daniel has really remodeled so nicely. This time, I really didn't get many pictures of the house. It's mostly just folks. Happy bday Krim. It's about time you started getting old like the rest of us!

If you've ever looked at pictures of her, Krimson never keeps her eyes open. I'm simply helping her out for this pic. That's what friends do.

Silas' first vacation

For our first family vacation, we went up to Asheville and spent a little time in the city, did some camping, and visited with Julie and Jim at her Aunt Shirley and Uncle Arnold's house in the mountains. Here we have posted some pictures of camping at the Black Mountain Campground in Burnsville NC. Julie has posted some pictures of our time at Shirley and Arnold's on their site, too. That was fun! We got to stay in a beautiful cabin overlooking the mountains, ate great food, and listened to Jason, Jim and Arnold play music for hours. Not bad at all!! Having a family vacation was SO much fun!

Black Mountain Campground...

Crawling in the grass was SO fun.

Our campsite setup. Lots of rocks to play with!

The river that passes through the campground and Silas' first dip in the river. He loved dropping rocks into the water and watching the splash.

Hiking...
Before, during and after.

My favorite picture EVER. I love my boys.

Sandbox, baby

Over the weekend, Jason and I built a sandbox for Silas. It was so much fun! It actually turned out to be a good bit bigger than we imagined it to be in our heads, but that's okay. Our little buddy loved it! When I was growing up, I can't tell you how many hours and hours we spent in our sandbox, so building this for Silas makes me really happy. We hope that he enjoys it for a long time, and it's plenty big enough for his friends and cousins to come and play in it, too.

Here is one picture from "swimming" at Krimson and Daniel's house, and some of when we went to visit my mom in the mountains. At her house, there is a little room with a gate where Mom's daschunds were. Silas figured out that if he yelled loudly, the dogs would bark and bark and bark. He LOVED this game! He would laugh and laugh when the dogs barked back at him, yelling again when they stopped so they would bark again. Oh, what fun!

We're actually pretty happy with how our yard is looking this year! Yay! Finally. The newest addition is a little rock garden at the end of the path to the front porch. The blooming plant is portulaca, which Jason's co-worker Brandy gave us. This is a really fun garden because we do absolutely nothing to it and never have to water anything. Woo hoo!

Josiah is here!

Yay! Our sister-in-law, Jessica, had baby Josiah on Saturday, June 3rd! He is a healthy baby, weighing over 9lbs. and mom, dad and baby are happy at home. As far as we know so far, the birth went very well and quite fast. Once they are able to, Travis and Jess will post some pictures of their new baby boy on their blog site (linked on our front page).
We are so very happy for them and can't wait to meet the newest member of our family!

Fingerpainting and swimming

Silas turned 10 months old today! So we celebrated with a little naked fingerpainting. He really didn't know what to think about it at first, but then he liked smooshing the paint all around. His favorite part, though, was the bath afterwards. The boy loves his bathtime!

Here I am standing up in my crib, looking cute! I can pull up all by myself now.

During the first weekend of May, we went to Albany to celebrate Silas' cousin Emily's 9th birthday and his Aunt Shellie's birthday. Silas went swimming for the first time while we were down there!! HE LOVED IT. We thought he might have been scared to get in the pool, but he just smiled and splashed and loved riding around in his float. Next summer we might have a little fish!
Our camera wasn't working so Shellie took these pictures for us on her camera phone.

May

This month we did lots of stuff! Silas turns 10 months old Wednesday (wow!) and is a busy boy!
We went to Albany for his cousin Emily's 9th birthday party and he got to hang out with lots of 3rd grade girls....every boy's dream. He had a lot of fun with his cousin Ethan too.

For Mother's Day we had a very relaxing day and it was WONDERFUL. So very rarely, it seems, to we get a day just to ourselves and we all three had a great time. It was a beautiful day and I loved spending it with my guys.

I'm trying to include some pictures that Silas' Nana and Papa sent to me, and they are from various times that he has spent at their house. Silas loves his Nana and Papa!
Also here are some pictures of Silas and our good friend Beth at the "dream house" down the road from us. It has a great big old front porch with a view of a huge pasture and a barn for horses. (Having some trouble w/ uploading pictures for some reason, I'll add those later when I can).

Silas is growing up big and strong, and is a funny little guy. He's about 22 lbs now and getting into lots of stuff. He loves to stand up and jump, and we're just waiting for him to take those first steps. :) Watching him learn is such a fun experience.

Congratulations to...

Several wonderful things have happened recently and we just wanted to say "Congratulations!" to some of our friends who are joining kids' club. Our friends Julie and James Markley are expecting a baby in early November!! AND some of our other good friends, Jonathan and Fonda, are expecting in early November too! FUN FUN. We're so happy and proud for all of them. Interestingly enough, Julie was a bridesmaid in our wedding and Jonathan was a groomsman! Julie and James have started a blog site, which I have linked on our front page.

In other news, Jason's brother Travis is graduating from seminary on May5th! He has worked so hard and we are very proud of him. He and Jessica are expecting their first baby in early June!! Babies all around!

Happy Easter!

This Easter was really fun. The day before Easter we celebrated with my dad, grandmother, Cathie, Jo and Andre, Nick, and Marc. We had brunch at Dad and Cathie's house and got to hang out with everyone for awhile.

The Easter Bunny came to our house for the first time! He brought Silas a swing for outside and a floppy duck stuffed animal. Next year, we are looking forward to having an Easter egg hunt!! We spent the afternoon at Julie and Jim's house, celebrating Jim's birthday.
